My printer is now printing an entire document but only on the top left  quarter of the page. Very tiny font. All settings indicate full page, 100%, etc.

Thanks for the clear explanation — the issue you're describing (document printing only in the top-left quarter of the page, in tiny font) is typically caused by mismatched paper size settings or corrupted printer driver settings. Even if everything shows “100%” and “Full Page” in the print dialog, the driver or app may be overriding it incorrectly.

 

Step-by-Step Fixes to Try:

🔹 1. Check Paper Size in Printer Properties (Not Just the App)

Even if your document settings look right, the printer’s default settings might be off.

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click on HP Envy 6400 series, select Printing Preferences
  • Under the Paper/Quality or Layout tab, ensure:
    • Paper Size is set to Letter (8.5 x 11) or your actual paper size
    • Scaling is set to 100% or "Actual Size"
  • Click Apply, then OK


🔹 2. Try a Different Program

To rule out an app-level problem:

  • Try printing a PDF from Adobe Reader
  • Or a Word document from Microsoft Word
  • Or a basic document from Notepad

If one app prints correctly and another doesn’t, the issue lies in that specific app’s print settings.


🔹 3. Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver

A corrupt driver can cause scaling errors.

  • Go to Device Manager > Printers
  • Right-click HP Envy 6400, select Uninstall Device
  • Now, go to HP’s website and reinstall the full feature software:

🔹 4. Check for “Fit to Page” or Scaling Settings in the App

Even though you said settings indicate full page/100%, double-check:

  • In Word or Adobe, go to Print > Printer Properties
  • Make sure “Fit to Page,” “Shrink to Fit,” or “Pages per sheet” isn't set to something odd like 2 or 4.


🔹 5. Reset the Printer

Sometimes the printer itself holds corrupted settings.

  • Power off the printer
  • Unplug it for 60 seconds
  • Plug it back in and turn it on again
