Welcome to the HP Community --
Yes, if something happens to you and your printer, it has likely happened to someone else.
There are only a limited number of things that happen with printers -- most events are not unique.
Many Paper Jams are perhaps related to one or more of the following events.
(Note >> The list is not all inclusive.)
- The printer is dirty and / or is not ready to print on paper meant for photos / images.
- The sensor in the printer believes there is a paper jam. Actual stuck paper is not necessary for this error.
- The paper is not supported -- For example: The paper size, type, and / or weight are wrong for the printer.
- The paper is not suitable -- For example: The size, general type, and weight are supported but perhaps the surface of the paper is not recognized and the printer balks at loading it. Paper is too damp, too dry, crooked, curled, dirty.
- The paper is supported but is loaded incorrectly, including wrong orientation, wrong tray, wrong side down.
- The printer is not aware of the paper Size & Type or the Tray and Paper setting on the printer is incorrect. Checked / adjusted on the Printer Control Panel and / or the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
- The job settings are incorrect -- The printer is set to one size / type of paper and the job configuration is trying to use a different paper size / type / configuration.
- The printer Tray and Paper and the job configuration appear to match but there are incompatible settings selected in the job setup. True - This type of mistake does not generally result in a "Paper jam" message.
The following address the list of possible causes of a paper jam error.
