Hi @Kshammaa,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the error you're experiencing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is likely due to an issue with the printer's supply system, which monitors and communicates the status of the cartridges.
Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshooting this problem:
1. Verify Cartridge Authenticity
- Ensure the cartridge you installed is a genuine HP cartridge.
- Check for any tampering or damage to the cartridge chip.
2. Reinsert the Cartridge
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the cartridge access door and carefully remove the cartridge.
- Inspect the gold contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer for dirt or damage. Clean gently with a lint-free cloth if necessary.
- Reinsert the cartridge, ensuring it is seated properly.
3. Reset the Printer
- Unplug the printer from power.
- Wait for 60 seconds and plug it back in.
- Turn the printer on and check if the issue persists.
4. Update the Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date:
- Download the latest firmware from the HP Support website.
- Install it following the instructions provided.
5. Run a Supply Memory Reset
Sometimes the memory of the printer may need to be cleared:
- Remove all cartridges from the printer.
- Power off the printer and unplug it for 10 minutes.
- Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and reinstall the cartridges.
6. Check for Blocked Vents
- Inspect the cartridge for blocked or covered vents. If vents are covered with tape or other obstructions, carefully remove them.
7. Test with Another Cartridge
- If available, try a different (preferably new and genuine) cartridge to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the cartridge or the printer.
8. Perform a Printer Diagnostics Test
- Access the printer’s menu and locate the Reports or Diagnostics section.
- Print a test report to check for any additional issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
