HP Laser Jet Pro M404dn

My HP Laser Jet Pro M404dn was low on toner. I bought a two pack, removed the old one, moved the chip to the new one, removed all plastic pull tabs and installed it. It continued working while the low toner error continued to flash, even though the cartridge was brand new.  I went into some settings on the printer itself yesterday. When I got into a section of the settings, it prompted me me about what do to if the toner was low, I mean to back out, but hit ok to stop printing if low toner error was present. Now there is an error on the 2 line LCD display , "K Replace the indicated cartridges." and I can't do anything on the printer or get into any other settings to change. I have unplugged and plugged back in, left unplugged for almost an hour, taken the toner cartridge out and put it back in, took out a brand new toner cartridge put the chip in that one and same thing. Any thoughts??

If this was a standard chip, you cannot reuse it as the chip tracks how many pages have been printed and that value is never cleared. All new cartridges come with a chip. If you bought 3rd party and it did not have a chip that is because a legally compliant chip probably sells for the same price as the cartridge you purchased.

Is there a way to clear that code? None of the buttons on the printer itself will let me access any of the settings.
