My OfficeJet Pro 8715 recently did an automatic firmware update. I had ran out of ink and had to replace it with a new genuine HP ink cartridge (952XL in Black). The warranty on the printer and the ink cartridge is expired, but the ink was new and unopened. The error message reads "Older Generation Cartridge" and doesn't allow me to print anymore. I saw many others had this same issue a couple years back and they had to downgrade their firmware by downloading the previous version from a third party website. The link for the downgrade is no longer available, so I need a solution to allow me to print with the new ink cartridges because they are expensive and it seems horrible that HP would do another firmware update that put malware onto our printers that make them stop working with their own ink cartridges that previously worked fine, especially after the recent lawsuit about doing this to make non-HP cartridges stop working.
