Hi @nessa524,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing print cartridge issues with your printer, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility

  1. Ensure that the ink cartridges you are using are compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8020e series.
  2. Refer to the printer manual or the HP website for the correct cartridge numbers.

2. Inspect Cartridge Installation

  1. Open the cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to center itself.
  2. Ensure each cartridge is seated properly in its slot. You should feel a slight click when it is properly seated.
  3. Close the cartridge access door.

3. Clean the Cartridge and Contacts

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Remove the cartridges carefully.
  3. Use a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts in the printer.
  4. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.

4. Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  2. Wait for about 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

5. Check for Cartridge Errors

  1. After reinstalling the cartridges, see if any error messages or blinking lights persist.
  2. If so, follow the specific error message instructions, as indicated on the printer's control panel or in the user manual.

6. Replace Any Faulty Cartridges

  1. If the cartridge is still not working properly, consider replacing it with a new one.
  2. Ensure you purchase a genuine HP cartridge to ensure compatibility and quality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a blissful day 😇.
