Hi @sandy22223,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer stopped printing in color after a firmware or software upgrade, it's possible that the upgrade may have caused a configuration issue or a setting change. Here's what you can do to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

1. Verify Printer Settings:

  • Check the printer settings on both your computer and the printer's control panel to ensure that color printing is enabled.
  • Make sure that the print job settings specify color printing rather than grayscale or black and white.

2. Check Ink Levels:

  • Verify that the color ink cartridges have sufficient ink levels.
  • Replace any empty or low ink cartridges with new ones if necessary.

3. Clean Print Heads:

  • Run the print head cleaning utility from the printer's control panel or printer software to clean the color print heads.
  • This can help resolve issues with blocked or clogged print heads that may be preventing color printing.

4. Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer.
  • Visit the printer HP website to download and install the latest drivers compatible with your printer model and operating system.

5. Perform a Factory Reset:

  • Perform a factory reset on your printer to revert all settings to their default values.Refer to your printer's user manual or support documentation for instructions on how to perform a factory reset..

7. Rollback Firmware Update (if possible):

  • If the issue started immediately after a firmware update, consider rolling back the firmware to the previous version.
  • Check if your printer's manufacturer provides instructions or tools for reverting to a previous firmware version.

8. Test on Another Device:

  • Print a test page or document from another device (such as a different computer or mobile device) to see if the issue is specific to one device.
  • This can help determine if the problem is with the printer or the device used for printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
