Copies made when using the feeder have streak lines on the copy. If I use the bed, so streaks on the copy.
Why??

Hi @DTwomley, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're facing—streaks on copies made using the automatic document feeder (ADF) but not when using the scanner glass (flatbed)—suggests that the ADF's scanning strip is dirty or has debris.
Possible Causes:
- Dirty ADF Scan Strip – The ADF uses a narrow strip of glass (separate from the main scanner bed) to scan documents as they pass through. Dirt, dust, or ink smudges on this strip can cause streaks.
- Dust or Debris on the Rollers – If dust accumulates on the rollers, the paper might not feed properly, causing distortions or streaks.
- ADF Calibration Issues – If the ADF scanner alignment is off, it could introduce streaks or lines.
How to Fix:
1. Clean the ADF Scanner Strip
- Open the scanner lid and locate the narrow strip of glass next to the flatbed.
- Wipe it gently with a lint-free cloth dampened with glass cleaner or distilled water (do NOT spray directly on the printer).
- Dry with a clean cloth.
- Also, clean the white backing strip on the ADF lid.
2. Clean the ADF Rollers
- Open the ADF cover (top lid where you insert documents).
- Use a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water to gently clean the rollers.
- Let everything dry completely before using the printer.
3. Test Again
- Try making a copy using the ADF to check if the streaks disappear.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
