Solved!

sudden very slow printing

HP Recommended
Lenovo
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Laser Jet Pro M252dw suddenly started to print very slow i.e. about 4 ppm. What could be the problem? I have tried all of the usual fixes e.g. unplugging, downloaqding latest driver etc  When I go to the manage window for the printer to select the quality of print i just get "ImageREt3600" instead of the better, best etc

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting slow printing issue on the printer.

  • Did you change any settings on the printer display or the in the printer driver?

Check the printer preferences

  1. Search Windows for printers, and then click Printers & scanners in the list of results.

  2. Click your printer, and then click Manage.

  3. Click Printing Preferences.

  4. Click the Paper/Quality tab.

  5. In the Paper Type field, make sure Plain Paper is selected.

  6. In the Print Quality field, make sure Draft or Normal is selected.

  7. Click OK or Apply to confirm the changes.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install full feature driver for the printer

Thanks, your solution seemed to do the trick as far as restoring the speed. I am still confused as to why in the the print quality selection i can not select anything, my only choice that shows up is "ImageREt3600"

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

Good to know that the slow printing option is fixed now.

If you are unable to select other options in print quality selection, update the printer firmware.
