I have a brand new printer like 2 weeks old and suddenly it is making a wide (about 2 inches) vertical line when I copy or scan for duplex through the adf. I have cleaned the glass, I have tried using the scanner flatbed glass and it doesn't happen. It is only when I do duplex through the ADF and whether copying or scanning.

When you duplex scan a single sheet from ADF is the vertical line on bots scans or only on one ( 2nd side) if only on one then you have a defective scanner.
The ADF has 2 scanners for single-pass duplex scanning and it looks like the top one for the 2nd side is defective.

as an fyi - ultimately they replaced the printer but with a refurbished one which is a bit annoying since I could have bought a refurbished one for less money to begin with. I think there is an issue with this model because the fedex guy told me it was like the 5th one he had delivered this week when he brought my replacement.
