I gave my inkjet printer to a good friend and thought I could cancel the Instant Ink plan for that printer because I was still getting cartridges and being charged. But after I canceled I got a message that HP can tell there are still Instant Ink cartridges in the printer and they will now not work so my friend has to replace them with other ink cartridges. Is there any way to transfer the Instant Ink plan to my friend, and if so, how?  (This is with  MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1, but the HP website only lists as far as Monterey 12.0, so this needs to be updated. ) Thank you.

I understand you want to transfer an HP Instant Ink plan to another person is indeed possible, but it involves a process that needs to be initiated by the original account holder (in this case, you). 

 

Here's what you need to do:

 

Cancel Your Instant Ink Plan: If you haven't already canceled your Instant Ink plan, make sure to do so. You've already done this step, so you're good here.

Reach out to HP Instant Ink support directly. You can usually find their contact information on the HP Instant Ink website or through your HP Instant Ink account dashboard.

Provide Necessary Information: When you contact HP support, explain that you want to transfer your Instant Ink plan to your friend along with the printer. They will likely ask for details like your account information, your friend's information, and the printer's serial number.

Follow HP Support Instructions: HP support will guide you through the transfer process. They may require you to perform certain actions, such as deactivating the printer from your account or resetting the printer to factory settings.

Update Account Information: Your friend will need to create an HP Instant Ink account or update their existing account with the transferred printer's information.

Confirm Transfer: After the transfer process is complete, both you and your friend should receive confirmation from HP regarding the transfer of the Instant Ink plan.
