Welcome to the  HP support community.

I understand that the plunger does not go down, I am glad to assist you.

The toner in the Toner Reload Kit might be stuck, or the Toner Reload Kit might not have been inserted correctly.

  • Pull up on the plunger, and then push it down again.
  • CAUTION: Do not use excessive force when pushing the plunger.
  • If the plunger still does not go down, press the Cancel button .
  • Rotate the Toner Reload Kit counterclockwise, and then remove it.
  • Rotating the Toner Reload Kit counterclockwise 180 degrees, and then removing it
  • Make sure the cap and ring were removed.
  • Removing the cap and ring from the Toner Reload Kit
  • Check for debris in the reload port, and then remove it, if necessary.
  • Shake the Toner Reload Kit for at least ten seconds.
  • Shaking the Toner Reload Kit
  • Reinsert the Toner Reload Kit, and then try again.
  • NOTE: Make sure you rotate the Toner Reload Kit 180 degrees before you push down the plunger.
