Hi @Kevin379,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "setup cartridges" or "starter cartridges" that come with a printer are often used to initialize or set up the printer for the first time. If you don't have the setup cartridges and are encountering an error, there are a few potential workarounds you can try.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for about a minute.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
- Check if the error persists.
Use Regular Cartridges:
- Some users have reported success by using regular ink cartridges in place of the setup cartridges. Try installing standard ink cartridges and see if the printer accepts them.
Factory Reset:
- Perform a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that a factory reset will erase any custom settings you may have configured on the printer.
- Look for the factory reset option in your printer's menu or consult the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
