using an HP printer with non HP ink

After my printer has been out of warranty I used NON HP ink for 5 years. Now after the new firmware was installed HP had held me ransom to only use their ink. After replacing all cartridges with HP INK the printer does not work and had been deemed unrepairable by a authorized repair center. IF I BUY another HP printer will that happen AGAIN after my warranty runs out and I decide to use NON HP INK? Does the software shut down the printer/ copy  function?

The short answer is Yes - HP printers that are protected by Dynamic Security are limited to HP chipped cartridges.

Sure - not everyone agrees.

Dynamic security relies on the printer’s ability to communicate with the security chips or electronic circuitry on the cartridges. HP uses dynamic security measures to protect the quality of our customer experience, maintain the integrity of our printing systems, and protect our intellectual property.”

Dynamic security equipped printers are intended to work only with cartridges that have new or reused HP chips or electronic circuitry. The printers use the dynamic security measures to block cartridges using non-HP chips or modified or non-HP electronic circuitry. * Original HP cartridges that retain the original HP chip or electronic circuitry enable the refilling, reuse, or remanufacturing of the cartridge and are unaffected by dynamic security.​
