Every time I print on A4-format paper any which document (like Word .docx or PDF .pdf) on my HP Officejet Pro 7720 printer, a thin black vertical line at the utter left side (approximately 2,5 mm form border) is printed on all pages, except for (some of) the last page(s). This is very annoying for professional use. Can you please help me? I

Hi @IJ020,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A thin black vertical line on the printed pages of your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 could be caused by several factors, including issues with the ink cartridges, printhead, or internal components like the scanner or paper path. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check the Ink Cartridges:
- Make sure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and not clogged. Remove and reinsert them to ensure they are seated correctly.
- Inspect the cartridges for any visible damage or leaks.
Clean the Printhead:
- Often, print quality issues like lines are caused by a dirty printhead. Run a printhead cleaning cycle from the printer's control panel.
- On the printer screen, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
- Repeat the cleaning cycle 2-3 times if necessary.
Check for Paper Debris:
- Paper debris inside the printer can cause lines. Check inside the paper feed area and the output tray for any bits of paper or other objects. Gently clean the area using a lint-free cloth.
Check the Paper:
- Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper for printing. Poor-quality or damp paper can cause print quality issues.
- Try using a different batch of A4 paper to see if the issue persists.
Check the Printer’s Rollers:
- Sometimes, dirty or worn-out rollers can cause uneven printing. Clean the rollers using a soft cloth dampened with water. Gently wipe the rollers to remove any ink buildup or dust.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the printer's menu or via the HP Smart app on your computer.
Test a Different Document:
- Print a different document, preferably a test page or a simple document, to check if the problem is related to the specific file or application you are using.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- If none of the above steps help, try performing a soft reset:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
