Hi @DirtyLUV,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand how annoying it is when your HP printer consistently prints a light blue line along the left edge of the paper, especially when everything else seems fine. This issue is typically related to print quality problems.
Fix: Light Blue Line on Left Edge of Printed Pages
1. Clean the Print Path and Printheads
Dust, toner residue, or ink buildup inside the printer can cause unwanted lines.
- Use the printer’s built-in cleaning tool:
- Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Cleaning Page.
- Load plain paper and follow the prompts.
- If your printer supports it, run a Printhead Cleaning cycle from the control panel or HP Smart app.
2. Check for Toner or Ink Smearing
If you're using a LaserJet, inspect the imaging drum and toner cartridge:
- Remove the toner cartridge and check for damage or smudges on the drum.
- Do not touch the drum surface; fingerprints can cause print defects.
- Replace the cartridge if the drum is scratched or worn.

3. Use Genuine HP Supplies
Non-HP or refilled cartridges can cause color misalignment or streaks.
- Verify cartridge authenticity via HP Anti-Counterfeit.
- Replace with genuine HP cartridges if needed.
4. Check Paper Type and Quality
Low-quality or incompatible paper can cause toner or ink to misbehave.
- Use HP-recommended paper for your printer type (inkjet or laser).
- Avoid glossy or overly absorbent paper unless specified.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
