If you print the demo page from the control panel is it properly colored? If yes then the printer is working and the issue is often that when the driver was installed, it did not correctly detect that the printer was capable of color. On your PC go to control panel>devices and printers and right click on the icon for your printer and select "printer properties" from the dropdown menu. Then click on the device settings tab and scroll down until you see device type and change it to color. If you do not see all these options it is possible that you are using a Microsoft driver and not the correct HP driver.
