HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw

Ever since I bought my new LaserJet printer, it has never printed lime green correctly. It always comes out kelly green.  If I copy it on the printer it comes out fine but if I send it from any phone or computer, it changes the color. This is the only color I notice doing this. I have done color calibration. I am on my second set of cartridges. Any ideas?

This top green is what prints on my HP LaserJet. The bottom is the green I want and get on other printers from the same file.

Hi @Harbison,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be an issue with color management or settings when printing from your phone or computer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check Color Settings: Make sure that the color settings on your phone or computer are set to the correct color profile for the printer. Sometimes, there are options to adjust color settings within printer properties or advanced settings.
  • Driver Update: Ensure that you have the latest printer driver installed on your computer or phone. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause color inconsistencies.
  • Color Management: Look into the color management settings of your printing application or operating system. Ensure that the correct color profile is selected for your printer.
  • Software Compatibility: Verify that the software you are using to print from your phone or computer is compatible with your printer model. Some apps or programs may not fully support all printer features, including color management.
  • Print Preview: Before sending the print job, preview it on your phone or computer to see if the colors appear as expected. This can help identify any issues with the file or software settings before printing.
  • Test with Different File Types: Try printing different types of files (e.g., PDF, JPEG) to see if the issue persists across all file types or if it's specific to certain formats.
  • Reset Printer Settings: Consider resetting the printer settings to factory defaults and then recalibrating the color settings. This can sometimes resolve persistent color issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the issue with the incorrect color output when printing from your phone or computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

After receiving 2 replacement printers from HP, today they told me that HP LaserJet printers cannot print lime green and I should go back to using an inkjet printer.  VERY DISAPPOINTED in HP.  I have spent countless hours on this problem.  I have only used HP printers for years but cannot believe that a laser printer can't print something as simple as a lime green color.

Hi @Harbison,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your printer that does not print one of the colors you need.

I see that you have already gone through all the possible troubleshooting but you can give a try on the below steps once.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
