HP Smart Tank 615 Wireless All-in-One

Yellow ink won't print on a Smart Tank 615 printer.  I've tried all the troubleshooting tips and the onboard diagnostic steps. Still nothing.

Hi @lyoungMX,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding yellow ink printing issues on the HP Smart Tank 615!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

  1. Check Ink Levels:

    • Make sure the yellow ink tank is not empty or below the minimum line. If necessary, refill it with compatible HP ink bottles.
  2. Check for Air Bubbles:

    • Carefully ensure there are no air bubbles in the ink tank by gently tapping the side of the tank.
  3. Check the Printheads:

    • Remove the printhead for yellow ink and check for any blockage or residue that could be preventing the ink from flowing.
    • Clean the yellow printhead gently with a lint-free cloth moistened with distilled water.
  4. Perform Printhead Cleaning:

    • Use the cleaning function in the printer software to perform a printhead cleaning. This can usually be found in the HP Printer Assistant or HP Smart software under "Maintenance" or "Tools."
  5. Align Printheads:

    • After cleaning, perform a printhead alignment through the printer software to ensure optimal print quality.
  6. Check Ink Bottle and Tank Cap:

    • Ensure the yellow ink bottle used is genuine HP ink and compatible with your printer model.
    • Properly reseal and close the yellow ink tank cap after refilling.
  7. Reinstall the Printheads:

    • Double-check that the printhead is correctly installed, ensuring it snaps securely into place.

I hope this helps.
