I having trouble printing envelopes on my HP 9012e after I had a few envelopes jam up inside it. Now when I try to print more they keep jamming up. It still prints 8.5 x 11 sheets just fine. It's just envelopes that won't feed through. Any ideas on what could be wrong inside my machine?

Hi @Ford239,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the envelope feed mechanism in your HP OfficeJet 9012e All-in-One Printer might be experiencing issues after the initial jams.
Here are a few steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:
- Check for Remaining Debris: Carefully inspect the printer’s interior, especially around the envelope feed area, for any small pieces of paper or debris left from the previous jams. Even tiny remnants can cause feed issues.
- Clean the Rollers: The rollers that feed the envelopes might have become dirty or slick, preventing them from gripping the envelopes properly. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Rotate the rollers manually to clean the entire surface.
- Align the Envelopes: Make sure the envelopes are properly aligned in the tray and not sticking together. Fan them out slightly before loading them into the printer to ensure they are not stuck together.
- Adjust the Paper Guides: Ensure that the paper guides in the input tray are snug against the envelopes but not too tight. Incorrectly adjusted guides can cause feeding issues.
- Check Envelope Specifications: Verify that the envelopes you are using are within the specifications recommended by HP for your printer. Envelopes that are too thick, too thin, or have irregular shapes can cause jams.
- Printer Settings: Make sure you are selecting the correct envelope size and type in the printer settings on your computer. Incorrect settings can affect how the printer handles the envelopes.
- Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve feed issues or other bugs. Update the firmware on an HP printer

Hi Gaya1239, I spoke on the phone with one of your colleagues and he told me to do exactly what you have recommended in your response to my issue. I have wiped the rollers with a lint free cloth once so far (dry) and did notice some particles on the cloth. However I do believe I figured out the cause to the paper jam and it was your colleague that gave me the clue. He mentioned about defects in the envelopes like dog ears for example and it looks to me that I ended up with a bad batch of envelopes from the manufacturer. Some of them have creases or light folding marks that may have been made by the manufacturer's packaging machine.
Thank you for responding though. I do very much appreciate it.
