I purchased the HP Officejet Pro 7740 in October 2019. I have never had problems printing Avery labels with HP printers before - and I have owned a number of them - but every time I try to print a label using Avery labels with this printer, it jams. I have avoided doing anything until now because I was able to print my labels on the office printer (also an HP printer), but as I can't go into the office because of the pandemic I need to resolve this problem. Can anyone help?

@lizfurber, Welcome to HP Support Community!
What is the size and weight of the Avery label you're trying to print?
Are you able to print fine on regular plain paper?
Meanwhile, check the Printer Specifications for HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer (G5J38A) to see if the paper type and size are supported.
If it does support, refer to the document HP Printers - Print Settings Guide (Mac) to adjust the settings on the computer.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Many thanks for your reply.
I don't have any problems printing on regular plain paper, and I have also successfully printed on thicker photo paper. The jamming only occurs with the labels.
The Avery labels are A4 and, after a lot of searching, I found that the weight of each sheet is 178gsm. I checked the printer specs using the link you sent me and a media weight of up to 105gsm is supported which might be the problem.
The only specialised paper types that are supported are all HP's own with no labels in the list, and the weights of these range between 120g and 180g.
As a comparison, I also checked the printer specs for my old HP printer (Deskjet 3520), and a media weight of up to 280gsm is supported.
As far as I can see, this means that I will have to reconnect my old printer so that I can print labels which seems ridiculous. When I researched and purchased the Officejet Pro 7740, I never imagined that I wouldn't be able to print labels which is surely a normal office function.
Any suggestions/workarounds would be welcome.

Since this is a hardware limitation we cannot suggest any workaround.
Thanks for understanding!
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
