I have had no problems printing until suddenly this morning when I get an error message telling me it's out of paper. There's plenty of paper, I've checked for a jam, I've reset and restarted the printer and my computer, no settings have been changed on either device. When I print a test page directly from the printer it works fine, but anything I try to print from my phone or computer says "Out of Paper."
EDIT: It prints fine from my phone. It only tells me there's no paper if I send a job from the computer.

Hi @TheMabster,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing out of paper issues with your HP ENVY 5540 All-In-One Printer.
This could be a hardware issue with the unit.
However, you may follow the steps listed below to clean the paper pick rollers.
- Make sure that the printer is turned off, the power cord is disconnected, and the printer is turned onto its right side with the input tray open.
- Lightly dampen a clean swab with the water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the swab.
- Press the swab against the rollers inside the printer, and then rotate the rollers upwards with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove any dust or dirt buildup.
- Make sure that the rollers turn easily when you press them.
- Allow the rollers to dry for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Turn the printer over to its normal position.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then press the Power button to turn on the printer.
You may also follow the steps from this document to resolve this issue.(Click on the word document to open the web page).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

There is not a problem with the rollers. If I print a test page from the printer itself it prints. If I send something to print from my phone, it prints. The only time it tells me "no paper" is if I try to sent something to print from my laptop.

Hi @TheMabster,
I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to update the firmware from HP Smart App.
1. Go to 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPad OS), or HP Smart - Microsoft Store (Windows), or HP Smart - Mac App Store (Mac) (if not installed).
2. After completing the printer setup, click or tap on the printer’s name.
NOTE: Menu names, locations, and available settings vary by printer model.
3. Under Advanced, select Printer Home Page (EWS) or Advanced Settings.
4. Click or tap Tools or Web Services.
5. Click or tap Printer Updates or Product Update, and then click or tap Check Now.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day ahead.
