Fake paper jam stopped but now this carriage error appeared. Cleaned all carriage ink tray as per instructions but nothing changed. Decided to dump the printer C309g. Pity all that work and materials to construct it and all gets dumped for some silly problems. Old model issues as usual only good to for the landfill pollution.

Hi @GinaLola12,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing a fake paper jam issue with your HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer despite following HP's video solutions, you can try the following steps to resolve the problem.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Paper Debris:

  • Open the printer and inspect all areas where paper travels, including the input tray, output tray, and rear access door.
  • Look for any small pieces of paper or foreign objects that might be causing the jam. Remove any debris you find.

Inspect the Paper Path:

  • Open the cartridge access door and ensure that the paper rollers are not obstructed.
  • Check the paper path for any torn paper or fragments that could be stuck inside.

Clear the Paper Tray:

  • Remove all paper from the input tray.
  • Reload the paper, making sure it's not overloaded and is properly aligned in the tray.

Reset the Printer:

  • With the printer powered on, press and hold the “Cancel” button and the “OK” button at the same time until the printer resets.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Connect your printer to your computer and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP support website. Updating the firmware may help resolve software-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @GinaLola12,

Thank you for your response,

It sounds frustrating when efforts to maintain a printer like the HP Photosmart C309g don't yield the desired results. Many older printers eventually face mechanical or electronic issues that, despite cleaning or troubleshooting, persist due to wear and tear or outdated components.

Before you fully discard it, consider a few last options.

  1. Firmware Reset: Try a full factory reset of the printer to eliminate any software bugs that might be causing the carriage error.
  2. Recycling: Instead of dumping it in the landfill, check for e-waste recycling programs that can safely dispose of or repurpose parts of the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
