HP OfficeJet Pro 6978
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

My HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer continually states there is a paper jam.  Even when I clear the jam, it continues to state there is a jam.  I have looked at old threads on here, done a factory reset, unplugged and plugged, basically done everything that I was told to do in the threads I read from 2017, but the false paper jam still doesn't go away, and I can't print anything from my computer.  I use Mac OS Big Sur 11.  Thank you for any help.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

Let me know if this helps.
