HP Color Laser MFP 178nw
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Brand-new printer. Printer tray does not fully insert but protrudes by 9cm. Paper feed and printing works, but I don't want the increased footprint as I bought this for a small space.

 

I have already read the relevant pages in the manual on 'media and tray' pp 40-49 (it simply says to re-insert tray). 

 

I noticed a similar query from another user but it was closed without resolution. Is this a machining fault with a particular batch?
