Hi all, having issues with HP ENVY 5532 lately. After printing one page, the screen on printer pops an error message stating paper too short (though always using A4 size) and then paper gets jammed. This issue has started recently. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

@Manish-Tyagi, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
That sounds frustrating! The issue you're describing—where the printer indicates "paper too short" and paper gets jammed even when you're using the correct A4 size—could be caused by a few different things. Here are a few steps to try to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:
Check the Paper Tray and Paper Alignment
Make sure the paper is loaded correctly: Sometimes, even a slight misalignment of the paper stack in the tray can cause the printer to misread the paper size.
Check the paper guides: The paper guides (the adjustable pieces that hold the paper in place in the tray) should be snug against the paper, but not too tight. If they're too loose, the paper might shift, and the printer might misinterpret the paper size.
Inspect for Paper Jam or Obstructions
Look for any small bits of paper or dust in the printer that could be causing the paper to get stuck or misfeed. Clear any debris you find.
If there is any paper partially jammed in the feed, carefully remove it without tearing the paper.
Check the Printer Settings
Paper size settings: Ensure that the printer is set to A4 size, both in the printer settings on the printer screen and in the software (like in the print dialog of your computer).
Sometimes, the paper size settings on the software might override the default printer settings. Double-check that your computer or device is not inadvertently set to a different size.
Reset the Printer
Try turning off the printer, unplugging it for a minute or so, then turning it back on. This can sometimes reset any minor glitches or errors the printer might have.
Check the Printer Rollers
Dirty rollers: If the rollers inside the printer (which feed the paper) are dirty, they might not be able to pull the paper correctly, causing jams. You can clean them gently with a soft cloth and some water (make sure the printer is powered off before doing this).
If the rollers appear worn out, they may need to be replaced.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
