HP ENVY INSPIRE 7200e/ Printer Error shows UNLESS I have photo paper in the printer.  Do I need to have photo paper in the printer for it to print regular 8 1/2 x 11 paper?  Thanks!

your HP Envy Inspire 7200e should be able to print on regular 8.5" x 11" paper without requiring photo paper. Please try the steps shared below, this will help solve the issue.

 Step 1: Check Paper Tray Selection

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Tray and Paper Management.
  2. Ensure Tray 1 (Main Tray) is selected for printing regular letter-size (8.5" x 11") paper.
  3. If the printer is defaulting to Photo Paper, change it to Plain Paper.
     

Step 2: Adjust Print Settings on Your Computer

When printing from a PC or mobile device:

  1. Open the Print Settings in your application (e.g., Word, PDF viewer).
  2. Select your printer (HP Envy Inspire 7200e).
  3. Click Properties or Preferences.
  4. Under Paper Type, change it from Photo Paper to Plain Paper.
  5. Under Paper Source, ensure Main Tray is selected instead of the Photo Tray.
  6. Click Apply and try printing again.
     

Step 3: Reload Paper & Reset the Printer

  1. Remove all paper from the tray.
  2. Reload plain 8.5" x 11" paper, ensuring it's aligned properly.
  3. Power off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then turn it back on.
     

Step 4: Check for Firmware & Driver Updates

  1. Open the HP Smart App or visit the HP Support website.
  2. Check for any firmware updates for your printer model and install them.
  3. If using a Windows PC, update or reinstall the HP Envy Inspire 7200e drivers from HP’s website.
