HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 Printer

Setting up the printer for the first time, and the set -up reports a paper-jam. However there is no paper jam (printer is new) so setup is unable to proceed. Additionally the print head does not move and seems to be stuck at the right hand side of the rail.

Any ideas how to fix this "new" printer?

Hi @Peter8882,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering a false paper jam error and the print head is stuck on the right side when setting up your HP OfficeJet Pro 8210, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue.

  • Check for Paper Jams: Open the printer's access door and check for any stuck paper. Make sure to look in all possible areas, including the input and output trays, as well as the rear access door.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, this simple reset can clear false error messages.
  • Inspect the Print Cartridges: Ensure that the print cartridges are properly installed and that there are no obstructions in their path. Remove and reseat the cartridges if necessary.
  • Clear any Obstructions: Examine the print path carefully and remove any obstructions, such as small pieces of paper or debris.
  • Clean the Rollers: Dust and debris on the rollers can cause paper jams. Clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth and water. Make sure they are dry before using the printer again.
  • Update Firmware: Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve issues. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: If the problem persists, there may be a hardware issue.

Regarding the print head being stuck on the right side, it's possible that there is an issue with the print head assembly or the carriage mechanism.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
