My printer tray won't close. When it does, it squishes the paper so that several sheets are taken at once and create a paper jam. I've done the suggested: unplug for 3 minutes, press start button for 30 seconds, plug in, let it start up. But this doesn't fix the issue. I've also turned it on its side as suggested and looked for any paper jams.

Hi @JG184,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having a frustrating issue with the input tray of your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer. Here are a few additional steps you can try to resolve the problem:
- Check the Paper Tray Guides: Ensure that the paper guides inside the tray are properly aligned and are not obstructed. The guides should be snug against the paper without being too tight. Misalignment can cause the paper to bunch up or get jammed.
- Inspect the Tray for Damage: Look for any visible damage or warping on the paper tray or the tray compartment that might prevent it from closing properly. Sometimes, even minor damage can cause significant issues.
- Clean the Paper Path: Dust or debris in the paper path can sometimes cause paper jams. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean any visible areas inside the paper tray and the paper path.
- Check for Obstructions: Ensure there are no small objects or pieces of paper stuck in the paper path or inside the tray that might be causing the issue.
- Reload Paper Properly: Make sure you’re loading the paper correctly into the tray. The stack should be aligned properly and not overfilled. The paper should be straight and not curled or bent.
- Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve mechanical issues or improve the printer's functionality. Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Reset Printer Settings: If the issue persists, try performing a factory reset on your printer. This might resolve any configuration issues that could be affecting the paper tray.
