HP OfficeJet 5258 All-in-One Printer

The document feeder jammed and an error message said something about it needed cleaning. I'd like to know how to clean it. Serial number is [Personal Information Removed]. I'd also like to know how to open the lid on the document feeder properly. I was able to open it, but it seemed to take too much force. I don't see any kind of a release. Thanks!
