The printer started printing more to the right, I have no idea why that started happening it was fine yesterday. Now I can't get it to print anything, It now just makes a whole lot of clicking noises, sends me out a clean sheet of paper from the feed and jams. I have to open the cover in the back then remove the inner piece to remove a clean sheet of paper that is not ripped or wrinkled at all. I am using HP Office Jet Pro 8710 and I'm either running Microsoft 10 or 11 not sure where to check that. Any ideas??

Hi @bkymdk
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Paper jam issues can be frustrating, but they can often be resolved by checking a few things on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. The situation you're describing, where the printer starts making noises and feeds out clean sheets, suggests a misalignment or obstruction problem.
Here's a general guide to help you troubleshoot the issue:
Steps to Resolve Paper Jam Issues:
Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the back.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
Check for Paper Obstructions:
- Open the printer's access doors and remove all paper trays.
- Check for any stuck paper or scraps inside the printer.
- Make sure to inspect both the rear and front areas.
Clean the Paper Path:
- Use a flashlight to thoroughly inspect the internal areas of the printer, including the paper feed and rollers.
- Make sure there are no foreign objects blocking the paper path.
- Gently clean the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
Align the Print Cartridge:
- From the printer's control panel, access the settings menu.
- Locate and select the option for maintenance or alignment to reset or adjust the cartridges.
Check for Software or Driver Issues:
- Ensure your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the HP support website to download the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710.
- Make sure your operating system (Windows 10 or any other version) is also up to date.
Reconfigure Paper Settings:
- Verify that the paper size and type settings match the paper loaded in the compartments. Sometimes incorrect settings can cause jams.
Test Print:
- Load a new stack of paper, ensuring it is properly aligned.
- Attempt a test print to check if the issue persists.
Let me know how it goes.
