I have an Officejet J6480 All In One printer that I purchased new. Trying to install this on another computer with Windows 7 verses my old Vista Computer. The Win 7 computer finds the drivers for this printer with no problem. I can print wirelessly but have no software to scan. My original printer disc was for Vista and not Win 7. Can not download the 0JJ6400_Full_13.exe software or the Basic version. Getting Fatal Error during installation. Microsoft VC90.MFC, Version="9.0.21022.8". Scan Doctor does not resolve the problem. I have since then loaded software for an HP Officejet 4635 printer and a Cannon MX410 printer with no problems. Hate to discard the printer due to software not being available. Can anyone help?

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are unable to install the printer driver.
Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Download and install printer full feature driver

Sorry Sandy, the solution did not work. Same error message. There was no J6480 printer listed in the Programs and Features section, only the HP 4635 and Cannon MX410 printer. There was no J6480 printer listed in the Devices and Printers. There was no J6480 under the Drivers tab using printui.exe /s. Assuming this had been cleaned after the software load failed. Tried to load the software from the link provided and had the same results.

Anyone have a solution for this problem. Need software for HP Officejet J6480 that is compatible with Windows 7. oJJ6400_Full_13.exe on HP Support page doesn't download. Keep getting Fatal Error during installation. Problem isn't the computer. Have loaded other HP printer software on the computer and it works fine.

Try installing the basic driver for the printer and check if that works.

The Basic driver doesn't work either. I get the same Fatal Error during installation, (Microsoft VC90.MFC, Version="9.0.210228") when I down load the Basic Driver as I did when I downloaded the Full version. I looked at my Norton history and it allowed me access to open the file. Just don't understand why I can't down load this driver when I can down load the HP 4630 series and the Dell MX410 driver and software.

You can install the printer driver using "Windows Built-in" driver.

Thanks for trying, but I already had the Windows Basic driver loaded and printing before I joined the forum. The Windows Basic driver doesn't allow or offer any Scan functions. That's why I need the Full Version HP software. I can't use the J6480 Scanner with the Windows Basic driver.

As we have tried multiple steps and still the issue persists.
I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Click on "Continue as guest".
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
