I recently updated my Mac to Sequoia 15.0.1 (for which there is no selection in the OS menu so I put other) and the print area on my 1022n went from having a 1/4" margin all the way around to now having a 1/2" margin all the way around. I tried using different applications and it does the same thing so it seems to be a printer setting. Has anyone had a problem like this and if so a solution?

Hi @zucky ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the Sequoia 15.0.1 update has impacted your HP LaserJet 1022n's print settings, specifically changing the print margins. This could be due to compatibility issues with the printer driver or changes in the OS's print handling after the update. Here's how you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Settings
- Open System Preferences on your Mac and go to Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP LaserJet 1022n printer.
- Click Options & Supplies > Driver.
- Look for any margin or scaling settings that could be influencing the print area, such as "Paper Size" or "Scaling". Ensure the paper size is correct and set to Actual Size or 100% Scaling.
2. Reinstall Printer Driver
Sometimes, updating macOS can cause the printer driver to become outdated or misconfigured. To fix this:
- Delete the printer from Printers & Scanners.
- Download the latest driver for the HP LaserJet 1022n from the HP website (if available for macOS Sequoia) or use the HP Easy Start tool.
- Reinstall the printer and check if the issue is resolved.
3. Use the "Scale to Fit" Option
In some applications, like Preview, Microsoft Word, or Adobe Acrobat, there may be an option to adjust scaling.
- Before printing, open the Print dialog, and under the Scale settings, try using Scale to Fit or set it to 100% to ensure the margins are correct.
4. Check Paper Size in the App
In each application you're printing from (e.g., Word, Safari, Adobe Acrobat), make sure that the correct paper size (such as Letter or A4) is selected. Sometimes, apps can default to a different size after an OS update.
5. Check for macOS-Specific Printer Adjustments
- If your printer was previously configured with specific macOS settings, the update might have reset them. Check System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > your printer, and explore the settings to ensure no defaults have changed.
6. Use "Page Setup" in the Application
For a more specific fix, in some apps, you can adjust the margins through the Page Setup window before printing.
- Open the document and go to File > Page Setup.
- Adjust the margins to match your desired settings.
7. Reset Printing System
If the issue persists, you can reset the printing system:
- Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click on the list of printers and select Reset Printing System.
- Add the printer back and check if it resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks you for your reply. We tried all the steps and still have the same output. The main limiting factor seems to be there is no driver available for Sequoia 15.0.1 . When attempting to reinstall drivers we get an error message saying the system needs to be 15.0 or older. Do you know if there are plans in the works to update the driver to work with Sequoia 15.0.1 ?

I've owned my M1 Mac Mini since they came out in 2020. I've run Big Sur and then upgraded to Monterey. I've used Monterey 12.7 until tonight, when I upgraded to Sequoia 15.3 (yeah, decided to finally upgrade again after 3 whole versions 🤣). I saw the popup notification in macOS about the HP printer (I also am using an HP Laserjet 1022n), which concerned me a little and got me to looking into it. And seems a lot of people are having issues. I decided to see if I was going to have the same problem. I printed an image. It printed full page, with a 1/4" border. I tried a .PDF page. It also printed perfectly fine, full page with a 1/4" white border. So, whatever problem others are having, I'm not. Not sure what to say, other than, if possible, downgrade back to Monterey, install the latest HP driver for it, and then upgrade to Sequoia 15.3, as I did. I'm not using any particular application, just Preview. Maybe that's the answer? Dunno. But, if the driver were truly broken in Sequoia, I'd have the same problem, and I'm not having it. At least not in Preview.
