I have managed to set up my 2630 printer wirelessly and set up smart ink contract with no problems whatsoever.
However, I cannot set it up using USB lead to desktop - it will install but not print (error code 0x800401f3)
I have reinstalled software three times now, as advised, using HP smart install software but am going round in circles.
Unfortunately, this means I can only print from my phone as I discover my iPad is too old to support ios11 and my desktop does not have a wireless network adaptor. I bought one but it made no sense with my limited technical knowledge.
Questions: Is there an easy solution to setting this up? Don't see what I am doing wrong. Do I add it as a separate printer in HP smart package?

So, to add an update.
I finally discovered and downloaded the magical HP Support Assistant - not to be confused with the print and scan doctor which I returned to innumerable times.
The HP Support Assistant gave me the support number I needed and generated a phone case number to use when I phoned the HP technician (free in warranty). After some remote assistance, I was given a different driver which worked a treat. Yeh!!
Thanks to all who read the post and to ShlomiL for responding to my halfwit ramblings.

Hi,
For the USB connection, how long is the USB cable?
Ensure the cable is not longer than 2 meters long and directly connected to a port at the back of your PC, without using any USB hub or extension.
You may also perform a wireless installation with the printer connected to your router, even if the computer is connected with a cable (LAN) you may select a wireless connection on your computer while installing, it should detect the printer as long as your computer and printer are both connected to the same router, either wirelessly or wired.

Thanks for your intriguing reply ShlomiL

I tried wireless installation. worked fine and installed printer, but asked to remove usb cable. PC is not connected wirelessly to router.
