Pretty simple, how do I get the printer out of sleep mode? I've read enough posts to know you screwed this up bad enough to call it a "Wynne", as in Ontario's failed previous premier. I need a new firmware to fix this insane issue, there's no excuse for it and it gets to the point where we have to hit random buttons until it wakes up.
I don't want or need my printer to go into a power saving mode, it's a printer, it doesn't use enough energy for to worry about.

Hi @docmur,
I'd like to help!
I understand you are trying to disable sleep mode.
Sleep mode cannot be disabled, although on some printers you can change the inactive time before the printer enters sleep mode. To find out if you can change the sleep mode time, see your printer's user guide.
To change the time to Sleep mode
1. Open the embedded web server (EWS). For more information, see Open the embedded web server
- Find out the IP address or hostname of the printer by pressing the Information button (i) to print an Information page.
NOTE: The printer must be on a network and must have an IP address.
- In a supported web browser on your computer, type the IP address or hostname assigned to the printer. For example, if the IP address is 123.123.123.123, type the following address into the web browser: http://123.123.123.123.
2. Click the Settings tab.
3. In the Power Management section, click Energy Saver Mode, and select the desired option.
NOTE: If prompted for a password, enter the PIN from the label on your printer. It might be near the cartridge access area inside the printer or on the back, side, or bottom of the printer.
4. Click Apply.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

No, that's not an acceptable answer!
I don't want to increase the time between power saving mode turning on, I want to turn it off completely. I'm aware HP grossly screwed this up, but it's time to fix it. When will a new firmware be made available to address this issue? There is no reason a printer needs a power saving mode, it's a printer, it uses very little power to begin with.

An update won't help with that?
If the firmware gets updated; and the option is added to disable power saving mode; then either the problem will go away, or, the it will help locate the bug causing the issue. Do you understand what a firmware is, and why releasing an updated firmware would be a requirement to help solve the issue?
Why did HP design a printer that can't wake itself up from a power saving state? Either solve the problem with the printer waking up, or remove the power saving nonsense.
How long until a firmware update will be ready so we can test / solve this problem?
Thanks

No, that doesn't help, you clearly don't understand my point! The printer has a serious flaw that cripples it, so if we don't get an update to the firmware to resolve the issue, then you're not providing help, you're just ignoring the issue.
I'm going to assume you understand why I'm asking for a firmware , so how long until it's ready?

Okay, then transfer this to your manager or someone who can help. HP makes it nearly impossible to raise these problems, so the least you can do is try and get the problem in front of the right person.
To be absolutely clear, this issue WILL NOT be solved until I can remove the power saving settings from the web console, and the printer stops locking up.
