Hi @cehgoherd,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer stops working for specific tasks like printing wallet-sized checks. Let’s work together to get it sorted out.
- Have you checked if the paper size and type settings in the print dialog match the size of your wallet-sized checks?
- Does the issue occur only with wallet-sized checks, or is it happening with other print jobs as well?
- Are you printing directly from an application, and if so, have you tried using a different one to see if the issue persists?
Let's try these steps
Check Printer Settings
- Go to the print dialog in your application and ensure the paper size is set to the exact dimensions of your wallet-sized checks.
- Verify that the print settings are not set to a custom size or "borderless printing," which may conflict with smaller paper sizes.
Align Paper in Tray
- Ensure the wallet-sized checks are properly aligned in the printer’s input tray and the paper guides are snug but not too tight. Misalignment can cause blank pages.
Clean Printhead and Perform a Test Print
- Use the HP Smart app or the printer control panel to run a printhead cleaning cycle.
- Print a test page to confirm the printer is dispensing ink correctly.
Check for Software Updates
- Open the HP Smart app or visit the HP support website to ensure your printer firmware and drivers are up to date. Compatibility issues can sometimes cause specific print tasks to fail.
Test with Plain Paper
- Try printing wallet-sized content on standard letter-size paper to rule out any formatting or application issues. If it works, the issue may be related to the specific paper size or type.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
