@bombed, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your Mac is connected to your HP printer but not printing, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Printer Connectivity:

  • Ensure that your HP printer is turned on and connected to the same network as your Mac.
  • If connected via USB, ensure the cable is securely connected.

Verify Printer Status:

  • Open System Preferences on your Mac and select Printers & Scanners.
  • Check if your printer appears in the list and is set as the default printer. If not, add it by clicking the '+' button and selecting your printer.

Ensure Printer is Online:

  • Make sure the printer is not offline or paused by checking its status in the Printers & Scanners section.

Check for Any Error Messages:

  • Look for any error messages either on your Mac or the printer’s display. These can provide clues about what's wrong.

Update Printer Software:

  • Go to support.hp.com and check for any software updates or new drivers for your printer model.
  • Download and install any recommended updates.

Reboot Devices:

  • Restart both your Mac and HP printer to resolve any temporary connectivity issues.

Reset Print System:

  • In Printers & Scanners, right-click in the list and select Reset Print System. This will remove all printers, and you'll need to add your HP printer back again.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. You can verify this by checking the network settings on both your Mac and the printer.

Inspect Printer Queue:

  • Sometimes, jobs get stuck in the printer queue. Clear the queue and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
