Hi @John_audio,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with printing from MS excel application on your printer.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Check Printer Settings:

  • Go to the printer properties in the Control Panel or the printer's settings menu.
  • Ensure that the print quality settings are set to "Color" and not "Grayscale" or "Black and White."

Excel Settings:

  • In Excel, go to File > Options > Advanced.
  • Under the "Display options for this worksheet" section, make sure that "Show gridlines" is checked.

Gridline Color:

  • Excel gridlines typically print in the default color (usually light gray). If you've changed the gridline color, ensure that it is set to a printable color.
  • You can also try changing the gridline color in Excel to see if that makes a difference.

Print Preview:

  • Before printing, use the Print Preview feature to check how the gridlines will look. This can help identify if the issue is with Excel or the printer.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware.

Test Print from Another Application:

  • Try printing from another application (like Word or a PDF viewer) to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if it’s an Excel-specific problem.

Print as PDF:

  • As a workaround, you could print your Excel file as a PDF and then print the PDF, which may preserve the formatting better.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
