Printer went offline following a Spectrum outage and displayed a Set up Incomplete error message when service returned.  I’ve rebooted all devices and have reinstalled HP Smart app as guided by multiple posts.  The WiFi light does not illuminate and the display is “stuck” on the error message.  Without connectivity, it appears that there is nowhere to go 😞

Hi @NJK01,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet 8015e are having trouble reconnecting to the WiFi after the Spectrum outage. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the "Setup Incomplete" error:

1. Check the Printer’s Network Connection:

  • Ensure your WiFi is working properly, and the printer is within range of the router.
  • Check if other devices can connect to the internet to confirm the WiFi is active.

2. Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
  • Power it back on and check if the issue persists.

3. Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings > Network > Restore Network Settings. This will clear any old network information and allow you to reconnect.
  • After the reset, the printer will be ready to connect to a new WiFi network.

4. Reconfigure WiFi Setup:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your iOS device.
  • Follow the setup process again from the app to reconnect the printer to your WiFi. You should be prompted to connect the printer to the network.
  • If the printer does not show in the app, try adding it manually by selecting Add Printer.

5. Use WPS for Quick Setup:

  • If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can connect the printer to the network more easily.
  • On your printer, navigate to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
  • Press the WPS button on your router and the printer should connect automatically.

6. Update Printer Firmware:

  • If you manage to connect to the printer, check if any firmware updates are available through the HP Smart app and install them.

7. Check for Error Messages:

  • If the "Setup Incomplete" message persists, the printer may still be trying to complete the setup. Try a hard reset of the printer by holding down the power button for 10 seconds until it restarts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
