I have a brand new 9125e printer, but when I insert the setup cartridges, it doesn't like the Magenta one—it says it is empty and won't let me proceed. I foolishly purchased some new HP ink cartridges, thinking I could just insert them and go. Of course not—the printer won't complete its initialization without the setup cartridges. How can I bypass this?
I am on the verge of returning the printer and never buying another HP product again. I get protecting your bottom line, but I can't proceed with new legit HP cartridges, which is ridiculous.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Those setup cartridges are part of the warranty and HP should sent you a new set.
I think you also need to be online so the printer can phone home. Possibly it went offline just before you put in that cartridge. Just guessing.
I asked Microsoft's Copilot how to bypass the setup cartridges for the HP 9125 and the instructions were the same as in this videos. Let me know if they work or not.

I was definately online during the setup. I had tried both of those videos before posting here, the 9125e must have a different sequence. I could go through warranty replacement, but why should I have to wait for them to replace a cartridge when I just paid 100$ for genuine HP cartridges that the printer won't accept.
Any other thoughts on how to get around this?

I do not know of the bypass code, if any, for the 9125. The is just a user to user forum and I used google to find stuff like what you asked about. I have been told that the setup cartridges are only replaced under warranty and are not sold. There is only a small amount of ink in those setup, but if you are given a second set and not have to return the originals you will have more ink is the only plus I can think of.
