I have a HP Deskjet 9650 and was instructed to download Deskjet 9800. I went all the steps of adding a printer and the Deskjet 9800 does not show up on the list of HP printers. I tried to update the list and nothing happens. I ran all the trouble shooting programs from HP with negative results. Microsoft tells me that this printer will not work with Windows 10. but one tech did get it running prior to my hard drive being replaced by Dell. Any suggestions?

@RGB1, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I understand, let us try using an alternative driver and see if that works. Here is what you can do-
Try downloading and installing the Universal Print Driver HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (64-bit) and see if that works.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:
• Go to Control Panel - Devices and printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
• When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.
• Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.
Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.
Keep me posted.
