Recently had to replace a hard drive for the printer we have. With that, we lost all of our contacts and address books/accounting codes. Did we have a backup? Yes. Did we have the password for the backup? No, it was created by the guy before me, and he left a while back. I don't even know why a password is needed for a backup, but I digress, HP....
In short, the accounting codes work when printing locally and from a computer. Except if you put in the wrong code from a computer, it lets you print and track it in the "other" category job statistics. This worked fine before the Hard drive was replaced, and it still works now. I just have to hope nobody puts in the wrong code for accounting accuracy.
Accounting is enabled in our printer's properties/defaults, but I am hoping someone may shine a light on this problem of mine. I also have job statistics enabled and tried enabling local quota, but that just causes more problems for "guest" users who scan. It will not let them scan as they have "credits" for the local quota. This would fix the problem because it does not let you scan with the wrong code
For reference, we have multiple access codes for different partners in our building. We use an HP laser jet also.
