I just learned HP doesn't use HP Print and Scan Doctor anymore and I'm now using the HP Smart app as instructed. It is not showing my printer on the Dashboard and my Account. There is nothing showing how to Add the Printer. Can you help? Thanks!

Hi @djsomers,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Install HP Smart:
- Ensure you have installed the HP Smart app. You can download it from the Microsoft Store.
Connect Printer to Wi-Fi:
- Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. If the printer is not connected:
- Touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer control panel to access network settings.
- Select Setup, and then Wireless Setup Wizard, and follow the instructions on the display to connect your printer.
Open HP Smart:
- Launch the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 computer.
Add Printer:
- On the HP Smart app, look for an Add Printer option.
- If you don’t see this option, click on the Printer Actions or the Printer icon in the app’s interface, often located either at the top or on the side.
- The app will search for printers within the network.
Select Your Printer:
- Once your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e appears in the list, select it and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Sign-In:
- Ensure you are logged into your HP account within the HP Smart app. This might be necessary to synchronize your printer settings.
Troubleshooting:
- If the printer does not appear, try restarting both your printer and computer.
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi connection is stable and that the computer’s firewall settings allow the HP Smart app to communicate through the network.
I hope this helps.

Thank you! I called HP Support and these were the same instructions given. It was determined my black ink cartridge is defective and a new one is to be delivered tomorrow. Hopefully that will work and if not I was told it could be an issue with the printhead. If so, with the printer still under warranty, it would be replaced. Thanks again!
