I have a secondhand printer that I have factory reset. I need to access the admin settings but I have no sticker with the password.

It's the HP OfficeJet 8025.

Hi @Vagif,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

For the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025, when the printer is new or factory reset, the default administrator password is printed on a label (usually on the back or bottom of the printer, or on a pull-out card inside the ink access area). If the sticker is missing, you can try these options:

1. Check HP Smart App

Install HP Smart on your phone/PC.

Add your printer.

Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.

The app may allow you to access or reset the admin password.

2. Embedded Web Server (EWS) Reset

Connect your computer to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct or network.

Open a browser and type the printer’s IP address (found on the printer’s control panel under Network Settings).

From the EWS login page, click Forgot Password (if available) or perform another factory reset.

I hope this helps.

I have no pull out tabs, and options 1. and 2. do not work.

Hi @Vagif,

Thanks for getting back to me and clarifying. Since you don’t have the sticker, and neither HP Smart nor the Embedded Web Server (EWS) options are letting you reset the administrator password, let’s try the following advanced steps:

1. Restore Factory Defaults from the Control Panel

On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults.

Confirm the reset.

This should clear all previous admin credentials and allow you to set up a new password during the first connection.

2. Reset via Wi-Fi Setup Mode

Turn the printer off.

Hold the Wi-Fi button + Cancel button together while powering it back on.

This forces the printer back into Wi-Fi setup mode and in many cases clears security settings including the admin lock.

3. Access via USB Connection

Connect the printer to your PC with a USB cable.

Open HP Print and Scan Doctor (free from HP’s support site).

Run the tool, select your printer, and check if it provides the option to reset web services or security settings.

I hope this helps.
