I have a HP LJ M2727 MFP. It was working great with XP. Since I installed win 7, nothing works (printer or scanner). Tries to reload the SW with no luck. Really need the scanner and printer to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Sure wish I could say Jon's fix worked. I just bought a new HP PC with Windows 7 64 bit. I attached my USB P1505 Laserjet and let Windows try and find a driver. I didn't get a message that a driver couldn't be found so I tried to print and got a window directing the document to a FAX. When I went to Devices and Printers it had the printer listed as an Unidentified device which I deleted. I unistalled the printe rusing my HP disk and tried to install the driver from taht same disk. I went through the setup/install and it kept getting stuck where it tells me to plug in the USB cable. The install won't go further than there yet I'd get a message telling me the driver was successfully installed. I even tried to download the driver from the HP website. Still can't print although every diagnostic or test I've run tells me the drivers are installed correctly and the printer is good to go - it just queues up the document and never prints. Seems to be that the USB connection isn't seeing the printer. I don't even get flashing lights. I tried a different USB port and a new cable. Nada.
I then found Jon's solution but when I select ALL PROGRAMS there is no HP folder listing the printer so that I can uninstall the thing. I can't even complete step 1. I've spent half a day trying to resolve this and right now I'm pretty angry with the situation.
Does anyone have any other ideas on how to fix this insanity?

After the trying all the fixes listed here with no success I resorted to HP tech chat. Here are the steps that got my C4580 working with win7, albeit with limited capability. I also blogged the story here
- Verify that the All-in-One is connected to the computer via USB cable.
- Go to Start >>Devices & Printers
- Click on Add a Printer icon. Click Next
- If a message asks Local or Network, choose Local, then click Next
- Choose USB001 as the port, then click Next
- In the Manufacturers list choose HP
- In the printer list, choose the HP Deskjet 990c printer, then click Next. If you don’t find 990c, then select “Windows Update” in the same dialog box. It will re-populate the list. (I had to re-populate the list and it took a 5-6 minutes)
- The printer name should be listed as HP Deskjet 990C printer. Select Next.
- If you receive an option to share the printer, select NO.
- Click YES on Do you want your Windows based programs to use this printer as your default printer? Then click Next.
- Click NO when it asks, Would you list to print a test page (recommended). Then click Finish.

I just found another way to have problems attempting to set up drivers and that is to have a second user on Windows 7 and that second user has different 4100 printer drivers. Windows 7 states that the 4100 drivers cannot be deleted. Sign on as the second user and delete the 4100 printer drivers and then administrator can delete the 4100 drivers and install the current drivers. This worked on my fourth computer.

The recipe doesn't work with my HP Deskjet710:

current Windows 7, German, 64bit

The windows7 eventlog shows two error types:

You will need to apply a patch as described in this post.

I've spent the past four days emailing back and forth with Support, and making so many adjustments and changes on my computer that it is really messed up now. Everything on it looks like it is similar to Safe Mode (yep, been there, too), very few graphics, in all programs including IE8, Word 2007, AOL...
Printer is HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One purchased June '07:
Had to get a new computer in October (HP Pavilion p6180t - Vista with W7 Upgrade when available). Worked perfectly with XP, but had to download special drivers from HP to work with Vista.
I was afraid to make the switch to Windows 7 (64-bit Home Premium), but did the upgrade last weekend. Everything seemed fine until I tried to print a document. My printer shows as "Ready" but nothing happens in response to any print commands.
I have the software, drivers, and patches downloaded to my desktop so I don't have to keep redoing it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything, five times, added a new printer, and then deleted one, changed the way TSRs load from Services and Startup in msconfig, changed settings in files I never knew existed... all as instructed by an HP email tech.
This is a new (Oct.'09) computer purchased from HP.com, so I have nowhere to go for Warranty Service to just have someone who knows what they are doing get this all working for me.
I am way past frustrated and angry... I just don't know what to do. Please help me... I never intended this to be a fix-it-yourself computer when I purchased it.

Hello all,
I am hoping that you all can help me out. I have a desktop with Windows XP professional on it and my printer is an HP Officejet J6480 with wireless capability. My sister recently purchased a Dell computer with Windows 7 on it and we are trying to set her up to print wirelessly. When I inserted the CD that came with the product, it told me her system didn't support the device as it is a Windows 7 laptop. After reading on this forum, I am wondering how to fix it so her laptop can to the printer. Do you know if it is just when you change from XP to Windows 7 that there is a problem? Or is there a problem when you are trying to run the printer with anything but XP? Any help would be very appreciated!
Thanks!!

I have read through numerous posts and I have a similar problem but it is with a clean install of Win7 Home Premium. The printer is a Photsmart 7260. I have deleted and reinstalled the printer and driver from Win7 and nothing has solved the problem - everything seems ok but nothing is printing from any software or the card reader or any other source. Please can someone help with this problem. HP don't seem to be able to sort it out at all. I do have another printer connected but I use this printer purely for printing photos. It has been several days of frustration with no end in sight! Please help if you can
