I have read through numerous posts and I have a similar problem but it is with a clean install of Win7 Home Premium. The printer is a Photsmart 7260. I have deleted and reinstalled the printer and driver from Win7 and nothing has solved the problem - everything seems ok but nothing is printing from any software or the card reader or any other source. Please can someone help with this problem. HP don't seem to be able to sort it out at all. I do have another printer connected but I use this printer purely for printing photos. It has been several days of frustration with no end in sight! Please help if you can
If the printer will not print from the card slots then the issue is with the printer, not with the computer, driver or connection. Try printing a diagnostic test from the printer as shown here. When printing, does the printer go through the motions of printing but with blank pages? Are there any error messages?

Hi Bob
I have found another post in the forum which lead me to try setting the paper type in printer preferernces to Automatic as someone suggested - after this I find that a photo starts printing (I am using 8x4 with tab high gloss hp paper) but after a few passes the paper ejects with a strip of print 5mm deep printed. Does this not suggest a driver problem? Any suggestions as to how I can solve this most annoying problem??:smileymad:

There are details for my problem:
- Which version did you start with? Win XP Pro SP3
- Which version of Windows 7 did you end up installing? Win7 32 Bit
- What hp printer was installed in old version of windows? HP Deskjet 5150 Series
- Where did the installed software for the printer come from eg CD or Web Download: Web Download
If CD if you can find it now what is the number written on it?
If web download approximately when you downloaded it? Firstly for Win XP I've downloaded drivers from the website, version 9.4.2.0
- How is the printer connected to your PC ? eg US, Wired Network or Wireless: USB cable
- Any other printers installed on your PC? No
- Lastly the version of the printer driver that is currently installed that will not enable you to print? HP Deskjet 5150 Series (61.63.543.0)
My problem is so strange because the printer prints does not print any text but prints other stuff like: graphs, figures from PDF files..
Please help me, I'm trying to fix it for 4 days, I've looked through all posts and did not find any answer. I can not sleep at night, because of the thought of installing Win XP again or buying new printer...

It is possible that your black cartridge has failed or is out of ink. The graphics will generally be printed by the color cartridge, even black graphics. Try printing a diagnostic page as shown here for the Deskjet 5100 series. If the color prints but there is not black printing then the issue is either the printer electronics (not likely) or the black cartridge. If there is no black printing you could confirm it is the cartridge by gently blotting the black printhead on a damp tissue. A good cartridge will have a stong black blot, an empty or defective cartridge will show only a smudge.

My black cartridge is brand new from HP.
For sure the problem are drivers, because I've just plugged my printer into another computer with Win XP system and the printer works just fine.
I have also downloaded the drivers for Win XP from HP.com and tried to install them in Windows 7. I've almost made it, but at the end of the installation process I got the message error that some functions of the driver may be not available. I ignored it and clicked "OK".
Now my printer (with drivers from XP) prints only text - actually just letters... I can not print any special symbol, graph, image, etc.
Very strange....

Printing from the PC where printer is connected locally now works.
Printing from all other PCs in LAN still fails: both Windows 7 german and Vista german.
System Event on Windows 7 client PC says:
spoolsv.exe failure
...x64\3\UNIDRVUI.DLL load error code 0xc1
thank you very much
