Looking at the web, I see that a big world has the same problem with the latest upgrades of Windows 10. What is going on now?

Hi there,

I've solved this by doing the following steps:

Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer

A. Uninstall the Printer

Windows Key+X > Apps and Features

Select your printer.

Select Uninstall.

Windows key+R, type control, hit Enter

Open Devices and Printers.

In the Devices and Printers window look for your Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose Delete or Remove Device

Windows Key+R, type Cmd, hit Enter

Type printui.exe /s > OK.

Click on Drivers tab.

Look for Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.

Select OK.

Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

Close Devices and Printers.

Open a powershell or cmd console as administrator, goto c:\windows\system32 and type the following:

takeown /f c:\windows\system32\spool /r /d y

icacls c:\windows\system32\spool /grant *S-1-3-4:F /t /c /l /q

now go to c:\windows and type:

takeown /f c:\windows\temp /r /d y

icacls c:\windows\temp /grant *S-1-3-4:F /t /c /l /q

That should solve the problem.

@GeorgeAnast,

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post that you're having issues while printing from your HP Printer soon after Windows update. Don't worry we'll work together  to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you provide me with the exact model of the printer? Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Have you tried to run HP Print and Scan Doctor?

Have you tried to do a root level uninstall and reinstall of the printer drivers?

I would suggest here is to do a hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If you are facing any issue while using the printer then try using HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR). PSDR is an automated tool which can diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. Please go to this link: HP Printers - Using HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)  to download and run HP PSDR. Once you open the program, select your printer and click on “Fix Printing” to automatically diagnose and fix the issue.

In the issue persists, I would suggest here is to uninstall the printer from the root level and then reinstall them by following the below steps:

  • Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
  • Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
  • Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
  • Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
  • Now check for issue resolution.
  • If the issue persists, also try clean installing the printer drivers. Here are the steps:
  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP DeskJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Please click here (Please enter the product number and then select the correct Operating system and version of Windows before downloading and installing the full feature software for the printer).
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to Uninstall the printer drivers and then try installing the Windows built-in drivers for the printer.

Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.

Check http://hp.care/2nxKJv8 for additional instructions.

If nothing works, then I would suggest the next option would be to create a new user account. Please try the steps suggested and get back to us with the results of the troubleshooting so that we can help you with the next course of action.

I did everything over but nothing is done. I forgot to say that the same is done in the bugs samsung i 5 windows 10 1809. 17763.253 23/12/2018. The problem is Microsoft has done it while it finds the driver at the end of the installation makes a mistake. The printer scanner is working normally. I've spent many hours on this problem I can not do it anymore. Should Microsoft with HP find the problem and resolve it. I have two HPPSC 1315 and 2050 useless printers.
The PC is HPPRO 3500 i 5 Windows 10 for ver 1809 -structure 17763.253

@GeorgeAnast,

It's great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

After reviewing your post, I definitely understand this could be an issue with the latest Windows 1809, which could be causing this issue.

I would suggest here is to Uninstall the printer drivers and then try installing the Windows built-in drivers for the printer.

Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Sir Jeet_Singh

I did all that you suggested to me, but nothing was done. Windows finds the HP PSC 1310 drivers but the middle of the installation makes the error.

I had done cloning C: // to another disk for security with (windows 10 ver 1803 & 1713.112). In all the printers they immediately found drivers and worked very well. So the error is microsoft with update win 10 1809 or no longer supports these drivers. I can not do anything else anymore.
I have to put the other disk (windows 10 ver 1803 & 1713.112) to do my job and cut the WINDOWS upgrades. Every problem they create.
Perhaps they want to upgrade and printer drivers.
Thank you for your reply.
