After I changed the password of the 'admin' user in EWS, I was called by the system to log in again. This does not function anymore. Neither with the old nor with the password. How do I get access to the settings in EWS again. There are many instructions to perform a verrks reset on the net. Unfortunately, none of these instructions had been fine-tuned. Aich of the Cjatbot had put forward various proposals to me, but nobody has helped here either. How do I reset the device to factory settings?
This device has the firmware version V3.82.01.16 Aug-11-22 (MFP178nw)
My operating system is macOS Sequoia 15.3
First of all, thank you for your support.

@Tom-Tom-Tom, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
1. Password Recovery / Reset
- Try default passwords like admin or 00000 on the printer control panel.
- Look for a password reset option in the printer's settings.
2. Clear Browser Cache
- Clear your browser's cache or try accessing the EWS using an incognito/private window.
3. Factory Reset
- Power off the printer.
- Press and hold the reset or stop button, then power it back on.
- Release the button after 15-20 seconds and wait for the printer to reset.
Restore factory defaults on your HP printer Guide
4. Re-Access EWS
- After resetting, log in to the EWS using default credentials.
- Reconfigure network and printer settings.
5. Network Configuration
- Ensure your Mac and printer are on the same network.
- Verify the printer's IP address and check network settings.
6. Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Remove and reinstall the printer drivers on your Mac.
- Add the printer back to your system.
I hope these steps help resolve the issue
