iOS

After updating to iOS 17.1.1, using my HP3830, when I change paper size to 4x6, it will not change back to 8.5x11.  This is happening across multiple apps.  Even after powering off the printer

Welcome to the HP Community --

The method described in this message to adjust the paper settings are generally available in your Browser (and locally connected printer on the same network).  Since the changes for Paper Size and Type can be made outside an application, the method to update the information is generally useful for "other" or multiple apps and software you are using on your device.

HP Smart - Mobile - iOS cannot change the Tray and Paper settings after the content is opened for printing.

You can (and should) adjust the Paper Size / Paper Type - Tray and Paper  - settings ahead of time.

When the printer includes a touch-screen capable printer control panel, it is perhaps possible to modify / edit the paper size and type settings right on the printer immediately after the paper is (re)loaded .  If your printer does not support this option, use a different method.

Tray and Paper can (also) be accessed from within HP Smart > Settings menu and / or using your Browser.

True - the printer and your phone / iOS device must be on the same network.

EWS > HP Document / How-to

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section How do I manually assign an IP address to my printer?  Items 1-2

EWS – Browser – Tray and Paper Management

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes

Tray and Paper – Paper Size / Paper Type / Paper Weight

Reminder

HP Smart Mobile might require that paper size / type is rechecked / adjusted before the content is opened for print.  What?  Adjust the paper size and type, THEN open the content for printing / sharing / saving.

EWS provides access and control to check / adjust Tray and Paper Settings.

Notes

Depending on the printer model, the Printer Control Panel might provide access to Paper Size / Type settings immediately after the paper is (re)loaded into the appropriate printer intake tray.
