After working fine yesterday I tried to print from my hp pavilion laptop using my HP 8028 All In One printer and was unable to. I tried reinstalling the printer and the printer has a message that says “no available driver”. My OS is Windows 11 and I know an update was done a few nights ago. I talked with Microsoft and they remotely tried to reinstall printer with no luck. The printer will print from my phone. I have no idea what happened as it was working fine. Why can’t I reinstall this printer? Appreciate your reply.

Hi @Daca57,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
It sounds like the recent Windows 11 update might have caused compatibility issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 All-in-One printer. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Uninstall Existing Printer Drivers:
- Open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 printer and click Remove device.
- Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
- Uninstall any HP printer software listed.
2. Remove Printer Drivers from Print Management:
- Press Windows + R, type printmanagement.msc, and press Enter.
- In the left pane, select All Printers and right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 printer and select Delete.
- Select All Drivers in the left pane, right-click on any HP drivers, and select Remove Driver Package.
3. Reboot Your Computer:
Restart your computer to ensure all previous driver remnants are cleared.
4. Download and Install the Latest Driver from HP:
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your printer model (HP OfficeJet Pro 8028) and select the appropriate operating system (Windows 11).
- Download the full-feature software and drivers.
- Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer drivers.
5. Add Printer Using Windows Settings:
- Open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Click Add a printer or scanner.

Hi @Daca57,
6. Check Windows Update for Driver Updates:
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates to see if there are any updates, especially related to printer drivers.
- If any updates are found, install them and restart your computer if necessary.
7. Using HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any potential issues with your printer.
8. Network Connection Check:
Ensure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop:
- On the printer, go to Network Settings to confirm the Wi-Fi connection.
- Ensure there are no network issues such as weak signals or interference.
9. Firewall/Antivirus Interference:
Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can interfere with printer connections:
- Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and try to print again.
- If it works, create an exception in your firewall or antivirus software for the printer.
10. Use HP Smart App:
- Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
- Use the app to set up and manage your printer. This app often handles printer connections better and can install necessary drivers automatically.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be necessary to perform a System Restore to revert to a point before the Windows update, although this should be a last resort. To do this:
- Open Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection.
- Click System Restore and follow the instructions to restore your system to a point before the update.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the driver issue and get your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 All-in-One printer working with your Windows 11 laptop again.
If none of the above steps work, kindly connect with phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
